Beatrix Satzinger
Beatrix has danced since she was a little girl. Among many other teachers she studied expressionist/modern dance, improvisation, and composition with Mary Wigman, and classical ballet with Tatjana Gsowski in Berlin. After a professional dance career in Germany (Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Munich) her focus switched to dance-movement therapy in search of genuine, authentic expression through dancing. In her counseling practice in B.C. one of her approaches has been dance-movement therapy.Since 1997 she has embraced dancing the Argentine tango. Teachers she studied with are Eduardo Saucedo, Fabian Salas, Osvaldo Zotto and Lorena, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, Pablo Nievas and Valeria Zunina, Aurora Lubiz, Gustavo Naveira and Giselle-Ann, Daniel Lapadula, Eduardo Aguirre and Yvonne Meissner, Susana Miller, Cacho Dante, Miguel Pla, Metin Yazir, Florencia Taccetti, Michael Young, and others.
In tango, Beatrix' focus is on connecting with another person in movement, enhancing and inspiring each other's experience of dancing and ‚ at the same time - dancing one's own, personal expression of self. In teaching tango she brings together her love for dancing, music, and people.
After teaming up with Michael Young in the summer of 2002 they have taught Argentine tango in many cities in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and in Buenos Aires. Beatrix and Michael are presently on a four-month "sabbatical" in Buenos Aires before they continue their teaching journey through Central and North America.
